Other checkers had no issues with removing things from basket and dinging against a scanner (they were even courteous enough to ask me to leave the basket to them). The basket had items which when paid for would fetch her salary and yet she had issues regarding this. For sure, I would prefer to use online grocery stores the next time and ever after.
More significant is the fact that grocery stores provide service not just to people who dislike notorious public but are actually fearful about it. I am a friend of many such people for whom a grocery store online is the healthiest path of literally no or minimal opposition.
